I joined Triveni as Vice President and took charge of Khatauli & Sabitgarh sugar units in Uttar Pradesh as the Unit Head, when the sugar industry was facing multiple issues.
My biggest challenge was to abolish CoSe-92423, a poor sugar cane variety that yielded inferior sugar recovery. Triveni became the first company in the Saharanpur region to separately mark this as a 'reject variety' in the Cane Calendar. We worked relentlessly with farmers to increase the area under higher sugared cane varieties for five years and it resulted in higher sugar recoveries over the years. This has immensely benefited farmers as higher-yielding sugarcane varieties resulted in higher incomes for them. We have converted the process of double sulphitation to a refinery process at Sabitgarh in 2012 and Khatauli in 2014.
